Fatal Auto Accidents in Texas

Fatal accidents occur far too often in Texas. Each month, nearly 375 people lose their lives as a result of collisions in our state. These accidents add up to more than ten people dying every single day on our roadways.

Even though fatal accidents take place far too often, it is impossible for families to prepare for the overwhelming impact that a fatal collision will have on their lives. Unfortunately, fatal accidents often leave families to deal with overwhelming consequences. In the aftermath of a fatal accident, it is crucial that your family understands your rights.

Legal Options for Bereaved Families

Laws in Texas provide families of those who have died in fatal motorcycle accidents in Texas with the ability to pursue claims for wrongful death against the responsible parties. In Texas, there are various parties who have the legal authority to initiate a claim. These include:

  • The surviving spouse of the victim
  • The surviving children of the deceased victim
  • The parents of the deceased victim

If a claim for wrongful death is not filed within a period of three months following the death of your loved one, a representative of the estate may also have the legal right to file a claim against the person responsible for the fatal accident.

This type of legal action can provide your family with financial relief from some of the damages that you face after losing your loved one. This can include medical costs, funeral expenses, lost earning capacity, and more. It is in your best interest to work with the San Antonio wrongful death lawyer to ensure that you are able to get the maximum compensation possible and that the negligent party is truly held accountable for their actions.
