Car Accidents in Texas

In the year 2022, more than 244,000 individuals in Texas experienced injuries resulting from car accidents. This concerning figure signifies that a reported crash took place approximately every two minutes, with an individual getting injured every two minutes and nine seconds. Despite the common occurrence of these incidents, the effects of an automobile accident on a person’s life are unpredictable. Anticipating the repercussions of such an event can pose a considerable challenge.

Those involved in car crashes are often left with serious injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, injuries to the spinal cord, severe bone fractures, and internal organ injuries. Unfortunately, any injury can require extensive medical care, with victims forced to undergo both immediate and long-term treatment for the injuries they suffer. To make matters worse, many crashes result from negligence.

What are the Leading Causes of Crashes?

Various acts of negligence contribute to the high rate of automobile collisions reported in Texas every year. Some of the most common causes include:

  • Distractions: When motorists are not paying attention to the road, they may not see other cars nearby, leading to collisions and causing severe damage and harm. Common distractions include food, cell phones, and passengers.
  • Driver Fatigue: When motorists get behind the wheel while tired, they may not operate their vehicle responsibly, increasing the likelihood of falling asleep and drifting into another lane.
  • Reckless Actions: When motorists behave recklessly behind the wheel, it can have severe consequences. Unfortunately, many crashes occur due to drivers swerving between lanes, tailgating, and engaging in other reckless actions.
