Car Accidents in Texas

Thousands of people are injured every week in car crashes across Texas. Many of these accidents are a result of driver negligence. When drivers operate their vehicles in a manner that is reckless, it can have devastating consequences for other drivers nearby. The unfortunate truth is that we often see innocent people left with serious injuries that affect their lives forever as a result of collisions. Common injuries reported in auto collisions include:

  • Internal bleeding
  • Chest injuries
  • Neck and back injuries
  • Pelvic injuries
  • Abdominal injuries
  • Burns
  • Airbag injuries

These and other injuries can be incredibly debilitating and require extensive medical care. Unfortunately, there are several reasons why we continue to see so many accidents occur.

What are the Leading Causes of Crashes?

There are various acts of negligence that continue to contribute to the high rate of automobile collisions reported in Texas every year. Some of the most common causes include:

  • Distractions: When drivers are not paying attention to the road ahead of them, they will not see other cars nearby. As a result, they are likely to strike them and cause severe damage and harm. Common distractions include food, cell phones, and even passengers.
  • Driver Fatigue: When drivers get behind the wheel while tired, they may not be able to operate their vehicle responsibly. Driving while fatigued increases the likelihood that a driver will fall asleep and drift into another lane.
  • Reckless Actions: When drivers are reckless behind the wheel, it can have severe consequences. Unfortunately, many crashes take place as a result of drivers who swerve between lanes, tailgate, and engage in other reckless actions.

If another person’s negligence has caused you harm, you need to seek guidance from an Austin car accident lawyer right away.
