Car Accidents in Texas
Tens of thousands of people are injured as a result of vehicle collisions on Texas roadways annually. Far too often, these accidents take place due to reckless and negligent drivers. We see many people hurt as a result of drivers who are impaired by alcohol, distracted by their phones, and engaging in other reckless actions. No matter what the cause, automobile collisions can cause devastating injuries that affect victims’ lives forever.
What Should I Do After a Car Crash?
If you find yourself unfortunate enough to be in this type of situation, there are a few things you need to do after a car crash.
First, you should report the accident to law enforcement immediately. This will ensure an officer responds to the scene, and medical professionals can report to the crash site to render aid to injured parties.
Second, you should collect all of the necessary information from the scene. This includes:
- Names of everyone involved and insurance information
- Names and contact information for witnesses
- Take pictures of the scene and record videos
- Get a copy of the police report
Next, you should get medical attention for your injuries. Even if you do not feel like you have suffered injuries, it is vital to have a medical examination to determine if you have suffered injuries and to what extent. This documentation is important when it comes to pursuing legal action later on.
Finally, you should speak with a San Antonio car accident lawyer right away. Your attorney will be able to take control of the legal work as you focus on overcoming your injuries.
