Car Accidents in Texas
Car accidents occur far too often. Unfortunately, these accidents are one of the leading causes of accidental injuries and deaths across our state. Each year, hundreds of thousands of vehicle collisions are reported on our roadways. Many of these accidents result in serious physical and emotional injuries for those involved.
After being hurt in a car crash, it is crucial that you take legal action against the responsible party. Initiating a personal injury claim can help you recover compensation to alleviate your medical expenses, the impact of lost wages, vehicle repair costs, and more.
How Much Is My Injury Case Worth?
The total compensation you can receive after your accident is inherently unpredictable. A knowledgeable personal injury attorney will carefully evaluate the circumstances surrounding your accident to valuate your case.
In general, economic damages are calculated by reviewing the actual expenses you incurred. This could be medical costs, property damage statements, pay stubs, and other related costs. Non-economic damages can vary depending on the severity of your injuries, the amount of medical care you require, and various other factors.
It is important to note that Texas does cap the amount of punitive damages a person can receive at $200,000 or up to two times the amount of compensation awarded for economic damages. The amount of non-economic damages is capped at $750,000. To ensure you have the best chance of maximizing the compensation you are able to recover for your claim, it is crucial that you seek legal representation early on from a dedicated Texas car accident lawyer.
