Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Every year, hundreds of people across Texas lose their lives in pedestrian accidents. These accidents are completely preventable in countless instances, but innocent people often suffer as a result of reckless and negligent drivers. There are several factors contributing to the deaths reported across our state, including:

  • Driving too fast
  • Driving while distracted
  • Driving recklessly
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol
  • Red light running

After losing a loved one in a fatal accident, families have the ability to take legal action. The wrongful death claim can help your family get compensation for some of the damages you face after losing a loved one in a fatal collision. It can include:

  • Costs associated with medical care
  • Suffering and pain
  • Loss of consortium
  • Cost of funeral and burial fees
  • Lost earnings

Taking legal action as soon as possible will ensure your family has the ability to get justice.

How does the Statute of Limitations work?

In Texas, you have the option of filing legal action following an accident. It is important to file a personal injury or wrongful death claim within the appropriate period of time. The statute of limitations is the amount of time within which you have to file the claim.

Texas has a statute of limitations of two years from the date of the accident. Although there are exceptions to this rule, it is crucial to seek legal representation promptly to ensure timely filing of your claim. Failure to do so within the given time frame can result in being unable to obtain compensation for your losses and damages. To give yourself the best chance at receiving justice, it is imperative to seek the help of a committed wrongful death lawyer without delay.
