Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Vehicle collisions in Texas take the lives of thousands of people across Texas each year. Unfortunately, a significant number of victims are pedestrians. These individuals, in particular, are vulnerable to suffering severe and fatal injuries due to being unprotected during accidents. Pedestrians involved in fatal accidents often leave behind bereaved families who are forced to deal with overwhelming consequences. Unfortunately, we continue to see countless people lose their lives as a result of accidents caused by negligence.

Common Causes of Pedestrian Crashes

There are several factors that contribute to the high rate of fatal accidents reported across Texas each year. Some of the most common include:

  • Distracted driving: When drivers are eating, texting on the phone, or engaging in other activities, they may not see pedestrians nearby.
  • Speeding: when drivers are traveling too fast, they are often unable to stop in time to avoid striking pedestrians.
  • Disregarding traffic signals and signs: when drivers run red lights or pass stop signs at intersections, they can cause deadly accidents involving pedestrians.
  • Failure to yield to pedestrians: when drivers do not yield to pedestrians who have the legal right of way to travel across the roadway, they can strike them and cause severe harm.
