Auto Accidents in Texas

In 2022, Texas saw over 15,299 people sustain serious injuries from car accidents, a staggering number that points to how many of these incidents could have been avoided. Common causes of these accidents include not giving way when needed, vehicle malfunctions, inexperienced drivers, aggressive behaviors on the road, limited visibility, and impaired driving due to substance use.

The reality is that those injured in these accidents often face long-term impacts on their lives. It’s only fair that they get a chance at justice for what they’ve gone through.

Understanding Texas Comparative Negligence Laws

If you are injured in a car crash, you can pursue a personal injury claim against the person responsible. Texas uses a modified comparative negligence rule, which plays a big part in determining your eligibility for compensation after an accident caused by someone else’s carelessness.

According to this rule, you need to be found less than 51 percent at fault to qualify for compensation. If it turns out you’re more than 51 percent responsible, you won’t be able to claim any compensation. This is why getting legal help quickly is crucial. A San Antonio pedestrian accident lawyer can build your case strongly to aim for the highest compensation you can get.
