Fatal Car Accidents in Texas

Statistics show that around 4,500 victims lost their lives as a result of motor vehicle accidents in 2022 across the state of Texas. Far too often, these accidents were caused by negligent and reckless drivers. Even today, we see a significant number of fetal collisions take place as a result of preventable circumstances.

Drivers who are speeding, impaired, and engaging in other negligent actions continue to be the main causes of the vast majority of fatal collisions reported statewide. Unfortunately, the loss of a loved one due to a fatal car crash can be incredibly difficult to deal with.

Filing a Wrongful Death Action After a Fatal Crash

After losing a loved one in a fatal accident, bereaved families have the ability to file a wrongful death claim. This type of legal action can provide financial relief for funeral costs, burial expenses, and a variety of other financial burdens that families face.

According to existing regulations, the process of initiating a claim for recovery can be undertaken by the surviving spouses, children, and parents of the deceased. In the event that the family fails to submit a claim within three months following the death of a loved one, a representative of the estate is also eligible to file a wrongful death claim.

When it comes to providing yourself with the best chance of getting justice after losing a loved one, it is important for you to seek representation from a Texas wrongful death lawyer. An attorney will be able to help you with the filing of your claim, gathering evidence, and a variety of other steps that are needed to be taken.
