Car Accidents in Texas
The state of Texas reports car crashes every day, causing severe injuries to those involved. The physical and emotional impacts of car accidents often last a lifetime. In many cases, car crash victims have to undergo extensive medical treatment and have their lives interrupted forever.
Many victims involved in crashes are left with significant financial consequences. It is not uncommon to see victims struggle with expenses upwards of tens of thousands of dollars, inclusive of medical bills, lost income, and repairs for their vehicles. Seeking legal recourse is advised as it can ease the burden of these monetary difficulties and others that may arise. Pursuing a personal injury lawsuit can help victims recover the necessary compensation to alleviate some of the strain caused by these financial consequences.
What is the Statute of Limitations?
Taking legal action following an accident in Texas is vital. However, the timing is crucial. The statute of limitations determines the period of time during which you must file a personal injury or wrongful death claim. In Texas, this statute is two years from the date of the accident.
It is important to seek legal representation as soon as possible after an accident to ensure your claim is filed within the deadline. It is possible to be unable to recover any compensation for your losses and damages if you do not file your lawsuit within the statute of limitations.
