Batesville, TX (November 9, 2023) – A major motor vehicle accident reported approximately 80 miles southwest of San Antonio on Wednesday morning claimed multiple lives. At around 6:30 a.m. on November 8, troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a crash on US Highway 57.
Reports show that an individual was driving a 2009 Honda Civic on the highway when his vehicle collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The impact of the collision caused the Chevrolet to burst into flames.
Two people in the Chevrolet were fatally injured. The victims were identified as 65-year-old Isabel Lerma and 67-year-old José Lerma. The Honda driver and five passengers were all fatally injured. All of the victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
At this time, the crash is being investigated.
