Car Accidents in Texas

Each month, more than 1,000 people are hospitalized with serious injuries following motor vehicle accidents in Texas. Many car crash victims have to undergo extensive medical treatment. They often have to take time off work to recover from the accident. It is unfortunate that negligence is a major cause of so many accidents that occur in our state.

Each year, we see a significant number of accidents caused by speeding drivers, drivers who fail to yield, and drivers who run red lights at intersections. Taking legal action after being injured in a car crash is crucial to your recovery. You must be able to prove negligence existed at the time of the accident in order to succeed.

How Do I Determine Who Is at Fault for the Car Accident?

To file a personal injury lawsuit after a car accident, you must establish fault. This can prove to be quite challenging. It usually involves demonstrating that the defendant breached his/her duty of care toward you. Some of the most common breaches identified in motor vehicle collisions include speeding and even failing to yield.

In addition to proving that a breach caused the accident and caused your injuries, you must also prove that this breach directly caused the damages you face. While this might sound straightforward, you need to be aware that insurance companies often attempt to shift blame onto you for any injuries or damages that occurred. You must seek legal representation from an experienced car accident lawyer in order to protect your rights.
