Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Thousands of people are injured every week in car crashes across Texas. Many of these accidents are a result of driver negligence. When drivers operate their vehicles in a manner that is reckless, it can have devastating consequences for other drivers nearby. The unfortunate truth is that we often see innocent people left with serious injuries that affect their lives forever as a result of collisions. Common injuries reported in auto collisions include:
- Internal bleeding
- Chest injuries
- Neck and back injuries
- Pelvic injuries
- Abdominal injuries
- Airbag injuries
These and other injuries can be incredibly debilitating and require extensive medical care. Unfortunately, there are several reasons why we continue to see so many accidents occur.
Common Causes of Car Crashes
Auto wrecks in Texas take place for a variety of reasons. The vast majority of these accidents are a result of negligence. Leading factors in collisions include:
Impairment: The legal limit in our state for alcohol is 0.08 percent. Unfortunately, it is incredibly common for drivers to consume far more than this amount of alcohol before entering the roadway. Alcohol can severely impact a driver’s judgment and lead them to strike other vehicles or pedestrians nearby.
Speeding: Although every road in Texas has a posted speed limit for drivers to follow, we continue to see innocent people harmed due to drivers who travel well above the limits of the road.
Distractions: In 2017, Texas passed a statewide ban on texting while driving. Unfortunately, we continue to see a significant number of accidents take place as a result of drivers who are distracted by their phones. In addition, we see crashes take place due to drivers who are distracted by other passengers in their vehicles, eating, or engaging in other actions that take their attention off the road.
If you have been hurt in a car crash, you need to seek justice right away. Working with an Austin pedestrian accident lawyer can help you protect your rights and hold the negligent party who caused your crash to account.
